With any of our lambs we are looking for quality examples of the Icelandic breed as a whole. We do our best to breed up with every generation, slowly improving the American Icelandic one generation at a time. Our goal is that the lambs are somewhat improved from their parents if the pairing was successful, or at least the same quality.

We are looking for healthy, thrifty lambs that are resistant to parasites and Pneumonia, and grow swiftly on little inputs. If a lamb is needing constant extra supplementation, worming, or extra care, this does not further the breed.

We of course are looking for good carcass builds. We want deep, broad chests, wide loins, chunky butts, smooth shoulders and a nice straight backline with good muscling throughout the body. We want fast growth so lambs are reaching a good weight to breed or butcher lambs. We want good dairy for helping grow larger lambs. We want good fleece whenever possible to have the nice wool to work with.

Then of course there is personality. We want calmer lambs if possible, but they must at least be respectful and not bounce off the walls crazy.

We will also breed for good horns whenever possible, but will keep a lamb with tighter horns if he or she is otherwise an excellent sheep.

On this page you will see all the lambs on the farm while they are still on the farm. As they are sold, or otherwise are not around any longer, we will be removing them from the page.

This is very important. This page gives you a brief look into each lamb, but not all lambs are high enough quality we would sell. We only sell a handful of lambs each year to ensure quality. On top of that, we also keep several of our best stock each year to further our flock as well. Our dedication to quality and betterment of the breed means we are very choosy who goes out into the world from our farm.

We always retain the right to change a lambs availability status if we find a lamb no longer meets our standards for being sold, or if for some reason we end up needing that individual for our breeding program. Accidents do happen amongst adults, so sometimes we need to keep a lamb to replace flock members we didn’t anticipate. We are always very open to discussion about each lamb, so if you do not see a red NFS, feel free to enquire about the lamb. Some lambs we may just be undecided on at the time.
