Welcome to Hardy Stock Heritage Farm
Where the old ways are still providing for future generations.
Here at Hardy Stock Heritage Farm, we strive to keep alive the old heritage ways of our forefathers. We do this in the way we live, and the animals we choose to keep.
Our mission is regenerative farming practices to ensure health for the land, the animals both domestic and wild, and the people that the farm impacts.
Icelandic Sheep
Our farm is proud to raise breeding quality Icelandic sheep in a low-input system on 100 acres of pasture in the rolling hills of northern Maine. We offer lambs, yearlings, breeding ewes, and breeding rams to families as passionate about keeping this breed thriving as we are.
Our flock is registered with the Canadian Livestock Records Association, known as the CLRC.
We mentor every shepherd, and work hard to be certain that the sheep you receive are the sheep that are most likely to thrive in your unique situation. Not all sheep are the same, and not every home is the same, so we work to give both sheep and shepherd the best start possible by working together to tailor fit your flock to your farm.
East Friesian Sheep
Our East Friesian sheep are a small flock kept specifically for the production of our dairy products and needs on the farm.
The East Friesians are known as one of the best milking breeds in the US, and will allow our Icelandic sheep to do nothing but raise their lambs to their best potentials.
We will offer lambs every year for you to establish your own milking herd if you wish, and they will be behind all things milk offered off the farm.
Armenian Gampr - Livestock Guardian Dog
We are proud owners and breeders of the rare Armenian Gampr.
This is an old landrace breed that many modern LGD’s came out of. We are honored to be a part of a group working to preserve this incredible and ancient dog breed.
In Armenia, these dogs are extremely valuable. However, as invaders take over parts of Armenia, many of these dogs are slaughtered. We are working with other breeders to rescue some of these valuable lines, and continue to carefully breed these amazing guardians of farm and family.
We work very carefully to choose only the very best homes and farms for our puppies, and will always work with each new owner to find the best pup for the needs of his or her new owner. We strive to place the Armenian Gampr back in the hands it was always intended for. In the hands of the family farms where the dog protects not just livestock, but the family it calls it’s own.
American Mustangs
A living piece of wild American history still races over the mountains and ranges in the west. A pounding beat of the American heart.
We consider it an honor and a joy working with these incredible horses on our farm, and helping other homes bring home a companion like no other. Mustangs give their whole heart and soul into their work and families, and we work hard to be sure that each mustang and mustang owner are carefully paired to be true companions in their adventures ahead.
We take the wild mustangs from holding pens, and we work to make them fearless and comfortable in any situation. We make them bomb proof so you don’t have to worry about your horse being spooky, even if you do weird things in your life or on the trail! From wild to mild. Mustangs are a do it all sort of horse, and we love working with them in so many different ways.
Brahma Chickens- Buff and Dark
We raise a nice flock of Buff and Dark Brahmas for eggs and meat.
This is a cold hardy bird built for the north. Their fuzzy feet keep them warm!
They are naturally a calmer and more friendly bird, and you can often see the flock following us around looking for bug snacks.
We do at times offer eggs, so keep an eye out and let us know if you would some eggs and we can put you on a priority list when we have eggs available.
Lamb Meat
We take great care to be sure the meat on your table is some of the best lamb you’ve ever tasted.
Long ago, Maine was filled with sheep roaming the hillsides. There are some who still remember it’s pleasant taste.
Our lamb is 100% fed, finished and raised on our grass pastures and on prime grass hay and alfalfa.
All meat is antibiotic and chemical free.
